The Barber of Seville: Opera Colorado

I haven’t been able to indulge my love of Opera for quite some time but as a birthday treat my hubby took me to the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver to see Rossini’s Barber of Seville produced by Opera Colorado in February. I have to say I was disappointed. This is probably because I am used to Covent Garden and the Royal Albert Hall. It sounded to me as though the orchestra was in the back room and it didn’t seem like the singers were miked very well either. The performers had fine voices but it just wasn’t powerful at all. The only time I have managed to get John to the opera and I don’t know if it will happen again. Such a shame it is a beautiful opera!
